Re: Who forgot to call the plumber, redux.
Sample ruling by Exhausted ER Charge Nurse · BantamCourt Bench
- Complaint
- My partner promised to call the plumber about the slow drain three weeks ago. They swear it is "on the list." The list, they admit, is a notes-app document filed under "Someday."
- Defense
- The respondent argues they have been "emotionally calling the plumber in their head" daily and that this constitutes progress. They further note that the petitioner handles "all the scheduling" and that the slow drain is, in fact, draining, just slowly.
- Findings
- There is a slow drain. There is also a notes-app entry titled "Someday." The respondent has, with no malice, allowed a minor leak to become part of the household's ambient noise. The petitioner has reminded them, on average, every four days.
- Verdict
- Plumber booked by Friday, with a screenshot, or weekend custody of the drain.
- Reasoning
- A slow drain is a slow drain; it does not become a philosophy of living. The respondent will book, screenshot, and send the screenshot to the petitioner by 6 PM Friday. If the screenshot does not arrive, the respondent will spend the weekend at the mercy of the offending drain, with a wrench, unsupervised.
- Harmless sentence
- Call the plumber, send a screenshot, take a nap.
